We are very close to the San Francisco airport (SFO), and the Oakland airport (OAK) is also nearby. The San Jose airport (SJC) is quite a bit to the south of us. Both SFO and OAK have BART connections to downtown San Francisco.
Our neighborhood does not have any hotels that we can recommend, so we instead suggest you stay in a hotel in downtown San Francisco. It takes just 11 minutes and two dollars to ride BART from downtown to the Balboa Park BART station, which is only six blocks from our house. Downtown San Francisco is also the most convenient hub for any other places you may want to visit during your trip. Priceline and downtown San Francisco were made for each other: it’s generally quite easy to find some great values.
San Francisco is a famously walkable city, and the public transportation is not too shabby. Within San Francisco, the primary public transportation options are BART and Muni. Where walking and public transportation can’t easily take you, cabs are plentiful. Parking, on the other hand, is not for the faint of heart. Unless you have some specific off-the-beaten-path places you’d like to visit, or have your heart set on practicing your parking mojo, you can probably go without a rental car.
We are creating a handy Google Map with some of our favorite locations in the Bay Area. Stay tuned.
Some of our guests are travelling long distances with very small children. Unfortunately, with the exception of children included in the wedding party, we aren’t able to accommodate children at the event. Let us know if there’s something we can do to help coordinate child care.
